Our second day in Cali, we visited the San Diego Zoo. We thought it would be fun and relaxing, but it was a record-setting 96 degrees in San Diego that day! NOT great for walking around a park with twin toddlers in a double jogger stroller, but we survived and the boys had a lot to talk about at the end of the day. At one point, we watched the workers release 10 colorful, parrot-like birds into the crowds at the zoo. It was pretty amazing to watch, and the boys remembered that best from our zoo experience.

I snapped this picture to demonstrate how alike these two guys are. Jack and Phil walk the same, are built the same, and behave almost the same way. It's a sight to behold and this picture doesn't do it justice.
After the zoo, Phil was itchin' to get to the beach. Mission Beach was the closest one we could find. We stopped there for an hour or so and let the boys have their first memorable beach experience. The water was still frigid, but the sand was great for digging and throwing. The boys were very entertained!

...that is, until daddy found an abandoned kite on the beach. When he got that kite to fly, the boys were mesmerized.
And then they each took a turn with it.
